Japanese craftsmanship, selected by HAKUSUI.

Selected by HAKUSUI to enrich your everyday matcha ritual, this handcrafted Banko-yaki bowl pairs a soft blue glaze with the warmth of natural clay. Gentle curves and subtle variations in color provide a beautiful backdrop for matcha’s vivid green.

Whisk your matcha in the bowl, then pour it into your favorite cup or glass. Chosen for its balance of Japanese craftsmanship and everyday practicality, it’s a piece to use and appreciate, day after day.

A Pottery Tradition from Mie, Japan

Banko-yaki is a Japanese pottery tradition centered around Yokkaichi and the surrounding areas of Mie Prefecture. Its origins date to the 18th century, during the Edo period. The name “Banko” carries a wish for the work to endure through the ages.

Best known for teapots and donabe cooking pots, Banko-yaki has developed alongside the everyday pleasures of tea and food. Its appeal extends across many forms and finishes, celebrating the possibilities of clay and glaze rather than a single signature look.

This pouring bowl brings that tradition into your matcha ritual, combining a useful form with a beauty you can appreciate every day.

Whisk, Pour, and Make It Yours

The traditional spouted form, known as katakuchi, makes it easy to transfer prepared matcha into another vessel. Pour it into your favorite cup for a warm matcha, or into a glass of milk for a latte. Enjoy a bowl that fits the way you like to make tea.

FAQ

What are the ingredients and nutrition facts of your matcha?

Our matcha contains one ingredient: 100% organic Japanese matcha, with no added sugar or other additives.

Each 1g serving contains 3 calories, 0g fat, 0g carbohydrates, 0g protein, and 0mg sodium. For the full nutritional breakdown, please see the Nutrition Facts section on the product page.

What does “ceremonial-grade matcha” mean?

“Ceremonial grade” is a term commonly used outside Japan to describe matcha intended to be enjoyed simply with water, allowing its flavor to shine. It is not an official Japanese grade or certification.

At HAKUSUI, we use the term for our Heritage Matcha, made with first-harvest tea leaves and blended for smooth umami and low bitterness. Enjoy it with water or as a latte—the choice is yours.

Where does your matcha come from?

HAKUSUI Heritage Ceremonial Matcha is made in Kakegawa, Shizuoka, using tea leaves grown in Kagoshima, Shizuoka, and Mie, Japan.

Our blend combines first-harvest leaves from three cultivars—Saemidori, Yabukita, and Tsuyuhikari—for smooth umami, low bitterness, and a vibrant green color.

How do I use the Matcha Mini Shaker?

Add ½ teaspoon (approximately 1g) of matcha and 20mL (0.67 fl oz) of cool or room-temperature water to the mini shaker. Secure the lid tightly and shake well to create a smooth matcha base.

Pour into a cup or glass, then add hot water for a warm matcha, cold water for a refreshing drink, or your favorite milk for a matcha latte. Add ice if desired. Always add hot water to your cup after pouring, rather than to the shaker.
